While working on a plausible calculation for the expanded Initial Series of Tikal Stele 10 (1.11.19.9.3.11.2.?), a part of the inscription gains my attention every time I read it. It is about a mysterious person, Chak Na... Chaahk, who supposedly reigned for eight years in office in an even more mysterious place called Tz’aktenah (Block D6-D9). After various thoughts, the reason for this passage is simple. It is not about a real person but it must be about a patron or god associated with an astronomical feature. This feature would be the Five Year Venus Cycle because 8 Haab’ is equal to this period. In numbers, 8 x 365 = 5 x 584 = 2,920. The Maya equivalent is 8.2.0. It is a well-known interval from the Dresden Codex and from several monuments.
With this new lead, it will still be very difficult to put up the correct timeline, but when we follow the rest of the text it seems that one of the two or three dates recorded concerning the coronation of ruler Chak Tok Ich’ak III (ca. 485/6-508 AD) happened seven days after the Five Year Venus Cycle.
